Holiday Desert- Stolen

Description ¼ Cup Warm Water– 110 to 115 Degrees
1 Package Active Dry Yeast
In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in water.

¾ Cup Warm Milk – 110 to 115 Degrees
1 Egg
¼ Cup Soft Butter
Once the yeast is foaming add the milk, egg  and butter. Mix to combine.

¼ Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt
3 ½ Cup Flour
1 Cup Raisins
1 Tablespoon Lemon Zest

Then add the flour, salt and sugar. Mix the dough until it just comes together.

Remove the dough from the mixer. Place on a lightly floured surface and kneed by hand for 2-3 minute. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover the bowl with a cloth. Place the bowl in a warm 85 degree location until the dough doubles in size.

½ Cup Almonds
¼ Cup Each Candied Citrus and Cherries
Reserve for the garnish.
 
To Roll the Stollen
Roll out the stolen dough in an oval about 12x8 inches. Brush with butter. Fold the dough in half length wise forming a crescent. Press the folded edge firm so it will not spring open. Place the dough on a grease baking sheet. Brush the top with egg wash. Let the stolen rise again until it doubles in size. Then bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
