FILLING:
6 - 8 apples pared and sliced (Macintosh or Rome)
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup sugar (a bit more if apples are tart)
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup water
CRUST:
1 stick butter (softened)
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups flour

1/4 cup water
CRUST:
1 stick butter (softened)
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
Methods/steps
CRUST:
Mix ingredients together with mixer or with hands
until you have a fine crumb....set aside
FILLING:
In a large bowl mix all ingredients except butter and water.
Place in a greased large round Brookfield pan...sprinkle with the water...dot with the butter...
Pour the crumb mix on top and pat down lightly.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 40 minutes or until the top is light golden brown.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of fresh whipped cream.
